Setting Up the Polar Analytics Integration with Reactiv

Connecting Polar Analytics to Reactiv forwards your Reactiv mobile-app events into your own Polar Analytics workspace — so your Polar dashboards cover activity in the Reactiv app alongside your storefront. The events land in your workspace automatically, in near real time.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A Polar Analytics account with the Polar Pixel installed on your Shopify store (see Step 1). Installing the Pixel is what connects your store to Polar — Reactiv's events are accepted only for a store that Polar already recognizes.
  • Access to your Reactiv dashboard with permission to manage integrations.

💡 You do not need to update your app or install an SDK. Reactiv delivers events to Polar entirely server-side. There's no code change and no app-store release.

How the Polar Analytics Integration Works

You connect your store to Polar once by installing the Polar Pixel; after that, Reactiv streams your mobile-app events into your workspace on its own. The integration is enable-only — there are no fields to fill in.

Responsibility

Who does it

Install the Polar Pixel and connect your store to Polar

You (once)

Identify your store to Polar (by its .myshopify.com domain)

Reactiv (automatically, on every event)

Forward Reactiv mobile-app events into your Polar workspace

Reactiv (server-side, in near real time)

Enable the integration in your Reactiv dashboard

You (one toggle — nothing to configure)

Because Reactiv identifies your store by its .myshopify.com domain, the Polar Pixel must already be installed on that store for the events to be accepted.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Install the Polar Pixel on your Shopify store

Install Polar's Shopify Pixel app so your store is connected to Polar. In your Polar dashboard this is a three-part flow — follow Polar's own guide for the full walkthrough: Using the Polar Pixel — complete installation & tracking setup guide.

  1. Enable the Polar Pixel add-on on the Acquisition page in your Polar dashboard.
  2. Install the Pixel from Polar's Pixel Setup page.
  3. Turn on the Polar App Embed in your Shopify theme and save. This step passes session information through for accurate attribution, so don't skip it.

⚠️ The Polar Pixel can't be installed on a Free Trial account. You'll need a paid Polar plan to install the Pixel and connect your store.

Installing the Pixel is what lets Polar accept the events Reactiv sends on your store's behalf. If it isn't installed, Reactiv's events have no connected workspace to land in.

Step 2: Enable the integration in your Reactiv dashboard

In your Reactiv dashboard, go to Integrations, select Polar Analytics, switch Enabled on, and save. There are no fields to fill in — enabling the integration is all that's required.

Events begin flowing into your Polar workspace shortly after you enable it.

What Data Lands in Polar

Reactiv forwards the following app activities to your Polar workspace:

Reactiv activity

Forwarded to Polar

Screen viewed

Product viewed

Collection viewed

Search applied

Cart viewed

Cart item added

Checkout started

Checkout completed

Any Reactiv activity not listed here is not forwarded to Polar.

Identifying Reactiv traffic in Polar

Every event Reactiv forwards carries a page path that begins with /reactiv- — for example:

  • /reactiv-application-home
  • /reactiv-clip-pdp
  • /reactiv-application-add-to-cart
  • /reactiv-application-checkout
  • /reactiv-application-thank-you

In Polar these appear as Landing Page Path, Last Page Path, and Page Paths In Session. To build a Reactiv-only view in any Polar dashboard, add a filter for Page Paths In Session contains /reactiv- — this captures every session that touched the Reactiv app, including shoppers who started on your storefront and entered the app later. Filtering on Landing Page Path contains /reactiv- instead is narrower: it captures only sessions that began in Reactiv, and will undercount overall Reactiv activity.

Customer identity

Each event is attributed to a shopper using a stable anonymous identifier, so the same shopper is recognized consistently across events. When a customer's email or account is known, it's included as well, so Polar can stitch the activity to the right customer profile.

Known Limitations

A few details are constrained by the data available on the underlying events:

  • Cart events roll up at the variant level. Cart activity is reported per variant rather than aggregated per product, so product-level cart totals in Polar won't roll a product's variants together.
  • Search analytics record the query, not the results. Polar knows a search was performed and what was typed, but not which products were shown.
  • Collection views fall back to USD. Collection-view events don't carry a currency, so their items are reported to Polar in USD.

Additional Notes & Troubleshooting

No Reactiv events appear in Polar. Confirm two things: the Polar Pixel is installed on your Shopify store (your store must be connected to Polar), and the Polar Analytics integration is Enabled in your Reactiv dashboard. Both are required for events to flow.

Disabling the integration never deletes your data. Turning the integration off stops new events from being forwarded; everything already delivered to your Polar workspace stays intact.

You won't see duplicated events from retries. Reactiv de-duplicates server-side retries of the same event automatically, so a retried delivery won't double-count.
